UFC 153 Results: Phil Davis gator rolls Wagner Prado for second round submission

By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief

Phil Davis and Wagner Prado first met this summer, with their fight at UFC on Fox 4 ending in a no contest due to an eye poke. They met again on Saturday night at UFC 153, and Davis held up to his end in what was expected to be a one-sided performance.

Davis came out looking to bring the fight to the ground early and often, and he had Prado off balance from the beginning of the fight. He took him down time and again in the first round, doing damage intermittently as well.

In the second round he turned it up further, staying on Prado with takedowns, but going for submissions as well. After missing out on one submission, Davis took advantage of a sprawl. He set up the anaconda choke, and much like he did against Alexander Gustafsson, gator rolled and forced the tap.

The win bounced Davis back after his loss to Rashad Evans in January, while Prado drops a fight officially for the first time in his career.
