The sole Chinese fighter on Saturday's UFC on Fuel 6 card in Macao, China, failed to give the hometown crowd a win, as Tiequan Zhang was defeated by Jon Tuck after 15 minutes of action.
The fight was an entertaining one between two low-rung UFC lightweights, but Tuck showed off some grappling skills through the first two rounds, pulling off some nice transitions and working to set up submission attempts. Zhang made it through those spots through the first two frames of the fight, and tried to take things back in the third.
Zhang was able to keep things on the feet in the last round, and got in some solid combinations that did some damage to Tuck. However, Tuck fired right back, landing some decent strikes of his own to keep the pressure off. It was enough to keep him undefeated, as he took a unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27.
"The Mongolian Wolf" has now lost three straight fights in the UFC, and going back to his time in the WEC he's lost four of his last five. Tuck, meanwhile, moved his career record to 7-0, going out of the first round for the first time in his career.
